Tax Awareness for Farmers
Join NY FarmNet Financial Consultant Andy Gilbert for an insightful presentation about the basics of taxes for farmers. In this webinar, attendees will:
• Learn why it is important for farmers to understand the basics of taxes.
• Understand how to better communicate important tax information to tax preparers and accountants.
• Be able to implement good record keeping best practices.
• Gain knowledge of common tax forms, terms and definitions.
• Develop a basic tax planning system for their farm business.
About Andy Gilbert:
Andy Gilbert is an experienced agricultural finance and business management professional, having owned and operated a large dairy farm for over 40 years. He is a former director of CoBank and Farm Credit East. He also does tax preparation as part of the VITA program which is administered by the IRS.
Andy Gilbert is a graduate of Cornell University with a BS in Agriculture and a concentration in Business Management and Finance. Andy is also a graduate of LEAD NY and a certified corporate director having completed the Premier Governance Series offered by the Farm Credit System. He has completed several other training programs including the Penn State director's school and the MBA upgrade program from Syracuse University.

MeatSuite.com is a free resource provided by Cornell University where NY meat farmers can create a farm profile and list their bulk (wholes, halves, quarters) and bundled (i.e. Grilling Bundle) meat products.Why should farmers join?
1. It's free and easy!
2. Connect with more local customers. In the past year the MeatSuite.com farm directory had 8,300 visits from New York consumers. Farm profiles get as many as 25 views per month from potential local customers. We also spotlight MeatSuite farms on social media and bring attention and purchases to farms through highlights and giveaways.
How do I join?
Farmers can visit https://www.meatsuite.com/farmers/ to create a free farm profile. You must list at least one product for your farm's profile to go live. You'll also have access to Cornell's free Meat Price Calculator, a helpful tool for pricing your meat to make a profit.
While you're on MeatSuite, check out the "Creating Consumer-Friendly Bulk Meats" publication on the log-in page. It has tips on how to create bulk meat products that are easier for first-time buyers to say "yes" to.
